*Subject:* Open house for NUS students

Dear Teck Wah,

Greetings from Outward Bound Singapore!

OBS, under the management of the People's Association (PA), is part of a
world-wide adventure-based training network with more than 55 centres in 35
countries. Our mission is to develop character, leadership skills and team
spirit through direct and purposeful experience in the outdoors. At OBS, we
believe that while age old values may be taught in the classroom, they only
gain true meaning through real life experiences. That is why we are
committed to facilitating outdoor learning, so that everyone can understand
the value of life changing experiences.

An important ingredient for the success of OBS is our instructional team.
OBS instructors are handpicked for their good attitude and aptitude for the
outdoors and towards nurturing youths. They are a bunch of motivated staff
who have to undergo months of intensive training before they turn
operational to conduct our programmes.

As part of our ongoing recruitment and talent scouting efforts, we will be
hosting an open house at our centre on Pulau Ubin for university students.
This will be held on *20 January 2007* and it will be a whole day event.
The tentative programme for the day is:

8.30am - Pick up from university
9.30am - Arrive at Punggol Jetty
- Ferry to Pulau Ubin
9.45am - Arrive at OBS Camp 1, Pulau Ubin
10.00am - Briefing on OBS
- Briefing on Instructor's role
11.00am - Tour of Camp 1
12 noon - Lunch
1.00pm - Activity try-out
3.00pm - End of activity try-out
- Freshen up
3.30pm - Wrap up (Q&A)
4.30pm - Depart from OBS to Punggol Jetty
4.45pm - Transport back to university

We would like to invite your university to participate in this event. We
are targeting graduating students (final year) for the event to generate the
awareness about this career opportunity with us. As a start, we are hoping
to invite 40 students from NUS for the event. If there are a lot of
interest, we will be keen to organise more open houses during the year.

Based on our records, most of our Instructors are former members of the
varsity sports clubs and adventure/outdoor clubs. Do you think it will be
more effective to publicise the event through them? Please let me know what
we need to do in order to push out the publicity to your students.

Thank you for your time and attention. Hope to hear from you soon! Have a
nice day!
